Today marks the second day in our traditional anniversary gift series! If you missed the first anniversary gift of paper, check out this post here.
Looking back, our second wedding anniversary gift to ourselves was probably not our smartest move. So, today I want to show you some simple graphic tees that would make the perfect second anniversary gift of cotton, so you don’t make the same mistake we did. These #MCM and #WCW graphic tees are so simple and are sure to put a smile on your loved ones face.
For you older friends, #MCM stands for Man Crush Monday and #WCW stands for Woman Crush Wednesday. It’s a way to show your affection for someone on social media. Okay, explanation over.
Let me paint a little picture for you. Our second wedding anniversary was three years ago. We had just graduated college and were headed to spend two weeks on a Mediterranean cruise. Seriously, the trip of a lifetime!! Ask me about it sometime! I can’t remember much about our actual anniversary but I do know we decided we were college graduates and college graduates deserve big kid furniture. So we decided our cotton second anniversary present to ourselves was going to be new couches. Not some cheap furniture we bought off craigslist but some big, plush, never been sat on bad boys!
Love those couches, however, not the greatest decision since we were in a tiny apartment at the time and now they don’t fit so awesome in our house.
If you’re still settling down after two years of marriage, pat yourself on the back, high five your loved one, and plan a date night to make these t-shirts to celebrate two years! Pick up some cheap t-shirts from your local thrift store or Goodwill, grab some fabric paint, and you’re good to go!
Be sure when you buy paint you get fabric paint rather than just craft paint. This will make sure the paint will last when you wash your shirts. Here’s what you’ll need:
Vinyl, stencil, or freehand skills
Because I know someone is wondering, the font I used was Futura Extra Bold Condensed.
I wanted the paint to look like it had been screen printed on so dabbed my fabric paint using a foam brush. This also helps you avoid getting paint under the edges since you are less likely to get under the stencil by dabbing from the top.
Let your shirts dry and then flaunt your #MCM and #WCW shirts all over town! I know someone will ask you where you got it and you can proudly let them know you made them yourselves.
If you make your own #MCM and #WCW graphic tees, be sure to tag #traditionalanniversarygifts so I can see it too or leave me a shout out at @acraftedpassion!
