Monochrome Bedroom Design Plans

Create a relaxing master bedroom with this monochrome bedroom mood board inspiration!

Did you see our announcement last week? We are joining in with the One Room Challenge for the third time and I’m so excited to transform our master bedroom from a cluttered space with mismatched furniture into a relaxing room to get away from the chaos of life with littles.

Today, I’m excited to share with you the design plans for the space and all the purchases we have planned.

If you missed the before photos, check out the full boring master bedroom here! Just as a refresher though, here is what our bedroom looked like last week.

Boring Master Bedroom Before Transformation

*This room makeover is being completed in partnership with Sherwin Williams and Select Surfaces Flooring. Thank you so much for making this possible! All opinions are 100% my own.

AND here is a general idea of what we plan on it looking like in 5 weeks!

Shabam!!

Can you imagine it now?

Get rid of the clutter.

Add board and batten to the main wall.

Paint the walls a rich gray with SW Peppercorn, ceiling painted bright white rather than the yellowy antique white that’s up there right now, and give the doors a pop of SW Tricorn Black. (Shoutout to Sherwin Williams for providing the paint for this makeover!!)

Rip up that nasty beige carpet and put down this gorgeous Urbanwood laminate from Select Surfaces.

Get some new furniture and makeover some of the stuff we already have. Add some greenery, wood accents, simple decor, switch out the fan, add some closet organization, and we’ll pretty much done!

Okay, okay. Maybe that sounds like a lot, but it’s totally possible!

Here’s another look to give you a little better idea of our what will be going in this room. I have linked everything below so you can get this look too!

I can’t wait to start transforming this space!!

So far we’ve got the room almost all cleared out, we’ll be painting at the end of this week, and installing the new flooring as soon as it arrives on Thursday.

We cashed in on some of our credit card points for a Home Depot giftcard to pay for a lot of the material. We’re just waiting for that to arrive in the mail and then we’ll get to go do a big shopping trip at one of my favorite stores!

We are actually flying back from vacation today so are a little behind and didn’t technically get anything done this past week, but I feel okay about it. This coming weekend we plan to be very busy. Each week I will update this list on our progress so stay tuned for (hopefully!) lots to be crossed off by next week!

Project List:

  • Install board and batten
  • Paint walls SW Peppercorn and ceiling SW Ceiling Bright White
  • Remove carpet
  • Install new flooring
  • Paint doors SW Tricorn Black
  • Switch closet door to open into room
  • Add new baseboards (if needed)
  • Install new ceiling fan
  • Makeover current headboard
  • Figure out dresser organization
  • Install wall sconces
  • Build two nightstands
  • Organize closet
  • Make art with our wedding vows
  • Hang new curtain rod and curtains
  • Accessorize!

Check out all the rooms that are being made over at One Room Challenge right here and be sure to check back next week on the progress!

  3. It’s going to be absolutely gorgeous! I’ve always wanted a monochromatic room and how restful it will be when it’s all done. And that chair, oh my gosh I’m crushing on it big time. I wish I had Chase in my bedroom for a chair. I can’t wait to watch the transformation over the next few weeks.
