Hi friends! Today’s post is for all my blogging friends. Non-bloggers, stick around for an awesome DIY post coming your way later this week!
Have you ever wondered how to use Pinterest for business to help bring more exposure to your blog posts? Maybe you’ve heard Pinterest can drive sales and generate traffic but setting up your account sounds confusing and time consuming?
If you’re looking to increase traffic to your blog, Pinterest can be a game-changer. This visual search engine has become a powerhouse for driving organic traffic, thanks to its highly engaged user base and the ability to share visually appealing content. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use Pinterest effectively to grow your blog’s audience.
Step 1: Set Up a Pinterest Business Account
Before you start pinning, make sure you have a Pinterest Business account. This type of account gives you access to Pinterest Analytics, which is essential for tracking your performance and understanding your audience’s behavior. Here’s how to set it up:
- Sign up or convert: If you already have a personal Pinterest account, you can easily convert it to a business account. If not, sign up for a new business account.
- Complete your profile: Add a professional photo or logo, write a clear and concise bio, and include a link to your blog.
Step 2: Optimize Your Pinterest Profile
Your Pinterest profile is the first impression visitors will have of your brand, so make it count:
- Profile picture: Use a high-quality image that represents your brand.
- Bio: Write a compelling bio that explains who you are and what your blog is about. Use keywords relevant to your niche.
- Website: Verify your website to gain access to analytics and to increase your credibility.
Step 3: Create and Organize Boards
Pinterest boards are where you save your pins. Organize your boards to reflect the topics you cover on your blog:
- Board titles: Use clear and descriptive titles with keywords that your target audience might search for.
- Board descriptions: Write detailed descriptions for each board, including relevant keywords.
- Board cover images: Use custom cover images to make your boards visually appealing and cohesive with your brand.
Step 4: Design Eye-Catching Pins
Pins are the core of Pinterest. High-quality, visually appealing pins are more likely to be shared and clicked on:
- Use vertical images: Vertical pins (735 x 1102 pixels) perform better than horizontal ones.
- Use high-resolution images: Ensure your images are clear and professional-looking.
- Add text overlays: Text overlays can make your pins stand out and explain what the content is about at a glance.
- Brand your pins: Include your logo or website URL on your pins for brand recognition.
Step 5: Optimize Pin Descriptions
Each pin should have a well-written description that includes keywords relevant to your content:
- Use keywords: Incorporate keywords naturally into your pin descriptions.
- Call to action: Encourage users to click through to your blog with phrases like “Read more,” “Learn how,” or “Find out.”
- Hashtags: Use relevant hashtags to increase the discoverability of your pins.
Step 6: Consistently Pin and Repin Content
Consistency is key on Pinterest. Regularly pinning and repinning content will help you stay visible to your audience:
- Schedule your pins: Use tools like Tailwind to schedule your pins and ensure a steady flow of content.
- Repin popular content: Repinning content from others in your niche can help you reach a broader audience and establish connections.
Step 7: Engage with the Pinterest Community
Engagement on Pinterest can lead to more visibility and traffic to your blog:
- Follow relevant accounts: Follow other bloggers and influencers in your niche.
- Comment and like: Engage with pins from others by leaving thoughtful comments and likes.
- Join group boards: Collaborate with other pinners by joining group boards related to your niche.
Step 8: Monitor and Analyze Your Performance
Tracking your performance on Pinterest is crucial for understanding what works and what doesn’t:
- Use Pinterest Analytics: Regularly check your analytics to see which pins and boards are performing best.
- Adjust your strategy: Use the insights from your analytics to refine your pinning strategy and improve your results.
Using Pinterest effectively can significantly boost traffic to your blog.
By setting up a professional profile, creating engaging pins, and staying active on the platform, you can attract a larger audience and grow your blog’s reach. Start implementing these tips today and watch your blog traffic soar!

Do you know if she works with blogger? I am considering switching to word press. But I am waiting to hear back from a designer and someone to help me move my stuff over. Until then I am wondering how I can make pinterest rich pins through blogger. I am having the hardest time understanding it. Does she have a tutorial on how to do it? Does she go over it in her book? Thanks so much for all the information!
Hey Trisha!
I mostly work with bloggers who have WP and have never figured out rich pins for blogger. However, here is this new way that you can validate.

I don’t go over it in my course, but that’s a great idea.
This sounds interesting, but I wish there was a little more info about what exactly she provides. It’s so hard to pay for stuff when you’re just starting out. Does she do a webinar or anything so we could get a taste of how she works?
Hi Jamie! I realized I forgot that info in my post. Thanks! So there are 5 video tutorials, about 8 minutes long each. At the end of the videos she provides actionable items to do. She does not have a webinar at this time. You can get a good feel for how she works on her Facebook page where she often provides tips. (https://www.facebook.com/simplepinmedia)
Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Hey Jamie, Kate here.
If you’ve watched the sales page video, the videos throughout the course are similar in style. Where are you at in your Pinterest journey (that’s a lame word to use but I couldn’t get a better one going in my head LOL)? That will help me better understand what you need.
Thanks ladies! I’ll take a look!
I’ve been feeling like I really need to spend more time focusing on Pinterest. This course sounds perfect!
Great Tips!!! Thank you so much for sharing! Can’t wait to try these all out!
Im struggling with Pinterest right now, so I am definitely going to check this out! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for this, pinterest is my #1 referrer most of the time so I’m always researching new ways to use it
