Have a budget in mind

The first thing you need to think about when doing up a motorhome, is your budget. How much are you willing to spend? It can be a good idea to detail out everything you need to pay for in a spreadsheet and how much you think it will cost. You’re going to want to add an extra column for any additional expenditures as things always come up along the way. The last thing you want is to not be able to finish your project as you run out of cash.

Think of a decor scheme

Once you’ve got a budget in mind, consider how you want to decorate your motorhome. Why not make some moodboard, either on Pinterest or just with images you’ve collected from magazines and taken photos of for inspiration. You could choose to lay down luxury vinyl plank and to wallpaper the walls instead of painting them. You might tile the space, and you could want one very specific colour scheme throughout. Bear in mind that it’s a small space so you want to try and stick to lighter colours to give the illusion it’s bigger and make it feel more airy.

Maximise your space effectively

When in a motorhome, as mentioned above, space is limited, so you want to do what you can to maximise it and be organized. Think about smart storage solutions, such as having a worktop you can place over your stovetop to give extra sidespace when you’re not cooking. You could have a table that folds away or turns into something else and things like hidden storage and extra cupboards in as many spaces as you can. These are all things you will really appreciate when you’re on the road and trying to keep it clean and uncluttered while also having everything you need at your fingertips.

These are just a few top tips that should help you when looking to do up a motorhome yourself. Whether you’re completely overhauling a vehicle or just giving an existing one a bit of a revamp, this is sure to help. Are you going travelling soon or do you have a motorhome?
