Deep dish pizza, the Sears Tower, and plenty of professional sports are reason enough to call the Windy City home.
However, as you’re exploring shipping rates for Chicago small moves you should also take a look at the city’s eclectic neighborhoods. After all, you need to let the shippers know where to deliver your stuff. So, which neighborhood is calling to you?
The West Loop is Family-Friendly
Centrally located, Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood is close to downtown but still has a family-friendly vibe. The neighborhood is ranked as one of the most walkable in the Windy City. Perfect for strolling with little ones or if you want to get in a little cardio exercise.
The views are great. You may even be able to catch a glimpse of Chicago’s iconic skyline. As for the neighborhood’s aesthetics, it’s a unique mix of industrial and vintage. Think of exposed brick facades. If luxury is more your style, it’s tough to beat the amenities in the West Loop.
Unfortunately, there’s a downside to living in the West Loop. The area is seeing a growth spurt and this means lots of construction. Eventually, the construction projects will die down but right now they’re leaving a bit of a mess.
Young Professionals Are Heading to Bucktown
Love being around nature but don’t want to give up city living, then a move to Bucktown may be right up your alley. Bucktown is pretty close to downtown Chicago, it’s about a fifteen-minute car ride. This means you’re close to all of the action without actually living in the middle of it.
Bucktown is close to The 606—but what’s The 606? It’s the Windy City’s newest public park complete with an almost three-mile walking trail. This isn’t your usual walking trail, it’s actually an elevated old railway line that’s been abandoned for years.
If art, food, and the theater are must-haves, Bucktown has you covered. You can even pick up a new sport known as Whirlyball. If you’re not sure how to play Whirlyball, head over to the neighborhood’s humongous complex. All we’ll say is it involves riding around in bumper cars!
Enjoy Nightlife in Lake View
You’re going to need at least one heavy jacket if you plan on calling the Lake View neighborhood home. You’re only about a block or so from Lake Michigan and the wind is usually chilly. The cold breeze is a small price to pay for absolutely stunning views of the lake.
The neighborhood is only a few minutes from downtown using public transportation so you can leave your vehicle at home and enjoy a fun evening. When you want to take a break from downtown Chicago nightlife, head to a drag show in Boystown or catch a game at Wrigley Field.
Live in Downtown Chicago
The neighborhoods around downtown Chicago are fabulous. However, you may be considering living in the downtown area. If so, check out Streeterville. Here you’ll find everything the Windy City has to offer both residents and visitors.
The Navy Pier is only a few blocks away. You’re also close to Winter’s Jazz Club. You can even find a sandy beach or two in this vibrant downtown Chicago neighborhood. With so many neighborhoods to choose from, which one are you going to call home?
