Have you ever looked around your room and found that the walls are pretty much bare? Maybe there’s one room in your home that’s a little sparse, and you’re determined to fix that? Then you’ve come to the right place – we’ve got some great ideas for you to try out listed below!
You don’t need to suddenly put a feature wall in every single room, but it is good to get something more interesting and dynamic up on the walls around you. After all, a well decorated home is the best kind to live in, and there’s a lot you can say with the wall furnishings you enjoy.
Artwork You’ve Made Yourself
Bit of an artistic person? Then make sure you start hanging up some of your favorite pieces around your home. It’s not boasting to be proud of an original piece done by your own hand; use it as a wall filler and make sure it’s hanging pride of place.
And if you’ve made plenty of artwork, hang them all up wherever you like. You can traipse them up the stairs, in such a way that takes the person at the bottom along the same artistic journey you went on.
Of course, if you’re not all that proud of things you did when you first started out, you don’t have to hang them up! But we recommend putting a couple of them up, just to remind yourself of how unique your own taste and style really is.
Photo Canvases
If you’ve got a load of photos saved on a computer drive somewhere, why not get them blown up to size and print them onto canvases? You can easily invest in quality photo to canvas printing – all you need are some great family pictures from times gone by to go up on the wall.
Once they’ve arrived and you can hang them, you can arrange them in a collage of any kind you like. You can also mix other forms of art in the mix, such as things you’ve made yourself, as well as smaller photos that can help to break up any ‘blocking’ that tends to appear.
Crafting Projects
Again, if you’re an artistic person, it’s probably not just painting and sketching you’ve tried out. You’ve probably made a lot of crafting projects too. Dig them out and see if they deserve a place on your walls.
If you’ve been trying your hand at crocheting, knitting, or sewing and/or embroidery in recent years, you could also make your own tapestry in the near future.
Turn this into a full on project you’d like to carry out; spend your time researching the best ways to make a wall tapestry, pick your materials just right, and sketch out the kind of pattern or image you want to display.
If you’ve got some empty walls in your home, and by this point they’re really ruining the aesthetic, be sure to dress them up via the ideas above.
