Modern Neutral Paint Colors

HUGE thanks to Sherwin-Williams for providing paint for this room makeover! All opinions are my own and I would never recommend something I don’t completely love. For more info on my policies, read my full disclosure here.

These are the best neutral paint colors from Sherwin-Williams, perfect for any modern bedroom.

Well, another week down. This past week has been real busy working on our bedroom makeover and I can’t wait to show you how it’s turning out!! Trim is in. Board and batten is up. Time to caulk, do touch up with paint, and then the best part of every room makeover…accessories!

While I make you sit around and wait for reveal day though I thought we’d talk a little about paint.

Although the majority of our home is painted in a super light gray, we wanted our bedroom to be bold and the paint to play a big role in the whole aesthetic.

Check out this quick timelapse video of our painting process over the past week…

I shared in our monochrome design plans that we plan to stick with a neutral color palate. Besides the brown undertones in the Urbanwood laminate flooring and a few wood accents, everything is either white, black, or gray.

If you missed the flooring post last week, best sure to check out my best tips on installing laminate flooring.

Here’s the paint we chose…

These are the best neutral paint colors from Sherwin-Williams, perfect for any modern bedroom.

Let’s start with the ceiling since that’s what we painted first.

We went with flat Ceiling Bright White SW 7007. You might be thinking…”Wow, real original, Amanda. Ceiling bright white? Could you get any more generic?” But, you guys!! It’s named that because it really is the best.

Slowly, but surely, I’m painting all the ceilings in our home with it. We live in a pretty dark home, I don’t need the ceilings working against me too.

The largest player in our room is the dark gray walls. We didn’t want something too green or too blue. Peppercorn SW 7674 was the winner in satin!

Tip: If you’re doing a big project, I highly recommend the Emerald line of paint. That stuff coats so well and goes on nice and thick.

The doors are getting a bold coat of satin Tricorn Black SW 6258. I’ve been thinking about painting all our doors black, but am scared it might not look good, so I’m starting in our bedroom and am going to work my way through the rooms from there.

If I hate it, I can always paint it back, but I think I’m going to LOVE it!! My friend, Emily, painted her interior doors black and I LOVE how hers turned out!!

Last, but not least, the trim. Even though we bought primed MDF trim, all of it still got a coat of High Reflective White in semi-gloss. Conveniently, when I called Sherwin-Williams to order more paint (because I forget to order paint for the trim), one of the head designers happened to be in the store and answered my call.

She was SUPER helpful and this was the paint she recommended for the baseboards and trim work. It’s the ProClassic smooth enamel finish for trim and doors.

I ended up just doing one coat and then will do another coat after I fill pin holes.

As a refresher, here’s what our boring master bedroom (hopefully!) will look like at the end of these six weeks. I can already start to see it coming together, and can’t wait to start adding furniture in next week!!

In the market for modern accent chairs? I have been totally torn on which one to get for the corner of our bedroom and have been pinning them all to a secret Pinterest board for the last month. I grabbed all those links and threw them in a roundup in case you want to check them out and let me know which one you think I should get! See them all here!
