Today’s the day!! We finally have an evening free to paint the nursery! Once that is done then I really get to go crazy creating our sweet little girl’s room. So here I give you our nursery inspiration.
The Feel
After much thought and countless hours of pinning, we have decided we want our baby’s room to be a cozy, chic, classic nursery. After waking up for the third time in the middle of the night to a crying, teething baby, I want to walk in to a relaxing, inviting room. Originally, I thought I wanted some bold and vibrant colors (like this one which is stunning!) but ultimately decided against that route for our nursery inspiration.
The Look
Three years ago, as we were falling asleep one night, I asked my dear husband what colors he imagined our future little girls nursery. Of course he thought I was crazy, but after I took a minute to explain that I was hoping to start a baby hope chest with a handmade puff quilt for our future children he thought I was a little less crazy. We decided then and there that for a girl we liked a deep, plum purple with shades of gray. We never settled on boy colors so lucky for us, our first is a little girl since I started that quilt three years ago (and still haven’t finished it).
Mr g is a graphic designer. With that means he went through years of art school being told to criticize everything…which he now has down to a perfected art. This is both a good and a bad thing. When it came to planning our wedding it meant he was involved and opinionated with all the little details from colors, to font choices in the program, to what type of flowers look well together. Now is no different. So thankfully I love him and will put up with his opinions and ideas. Now, it’s super handy not having to make these decisions on my own.
So all that to say, a few years ago when we were dreaming about our future he said he imagines a tall, free-standing white giraffe with silver spots in the corner of our nursery. Where the heck he came up with this, I have no idea!! But that’s what he imagines. We have been on the hunt since that day looking for this giraffe that he envisions but I have never found anything close. The closest I’ve found is this one. So if you see one, please let me know.

So with that in mind, we are creating a cozy, chic, classic nursery. Gray walls with purple accents and classic giraffes.

I absolutely love your inspiration and theme/colors you’re going with! I can’t wait to one day put together a nursery with my husband. I think you’re smart to go with more calming colors, and I absolutely love the plum!
Wow! Beautiful, Amanda! I love the color choices, and the giraffe idea is adorable. So sweet that your husband is so involved in the planning and decorating! This room will bring your sweet family years of enjoyment.
Oh how I love those colors!!! I really like the contrast between the deep plum and light gray .I seriously can’t wait to see it all finished and ready! I secretly hope we have another girl for our next one because I had so much fun with all the girly things :)
