Powder Room Makeover: In the beginning…

Ooooh I’m so excited! One year ago we decided to turn our boring guest room into a toddler chic bedroom as part of the One Room Challenge and that room is still my absolute favorite room in the house!

Now, it’s time to tackle a new space though.

Today I am so excited to show you the new space we’re making over…

Our powder room!

I went back and forth on whether we should do our master bedroom, living room, kitchen, or the powder room. We’ve slowly been making over our living room this past summer already, the kitchen needs a major overhaul that is not in our budget right now, and the master bedroom I’m saving until I have a little more time to tackle big projects this spring.

The powder room might seem like a small and boring space, but I’m so excited to make the third most commonly used area in our house pretty.

Let me show you what we’re working with…

BOR-INNNGGG!

✔️ Builder grade mirror
✔️ Old light fixture
✔️ Mid-tone cabinets which I hate and was the first thing we changed in our kitchen before we moved in
✔️ Random giant shelf that stores random crap

Here’s what the home listing looked like when we bought it four years ago. Clearly we haven’t done much.

Alright, so here’s the plan…

Over the next 6 weeks I’m joining in with hundreds of other home decor bloggers around the web to make over a room in our home. Six weeks, one room, one total makeover!

One Room Challenge

This bathroom is our only one on the main floor of our house, has no natural light, and is a lovely tint of butter yellow. After 4 years of being embarrassed by this bathroom when guests are over, it’s time to say buh-bye!

Here’s the list of things to get done over the next six weeks that I’ll do my very best to keep updated each week:

  • Paint upper walls
  • Paint countertops
  • Maybe paint lower cabinet?
  • New sink fixture
  • Replace towel bar with ring
  • Build shelf for above toilet
  • Update mirror
  • Accessorize

Next week I’m going to show you the mood board for the powder room so be sure to check back or jump on my email list below stay updated as to the progress.

Be sure to check out all the rooms to be made over at Calling it Home right here!

  1. Yay!! We are powder room buddies!! It’ll be so fun…ours is about the exact same size and layout. Although it’s just walls at the moment! (By the way, how in the world are we going to photograph a space so tiny for the big reveal?? #blogproblems) :) Good luck and I can’t wait to see!

  2. Hi Amanda – I’m Jen from Noting Grace and I found you from the ORC. We’re tackling our half bath this fall too! Glad to follow along on your journey and can’t wait to see what amazing things you do!
