How to Make Burlap Christmas Trees

Create these adorable and simple burlap Christmas trees using supplies you already have in your craft room to decorate your home for the holidays.

Doesn’t every home need some adorable, yet simple, burlap Christmas trees? I sure knew my home did! A few days after my due date while we were wasting time waiting for Clara to make an appearance Mr G and I headed to Michael’s to hopefully find something to distract me. We ended up buying three styrofoam cones and some greening pins used for floral arrangement and got to work.

I started by collecting different types of burlap and twine I already had on hand and bought some festive, Christmas twine to help tie it all together. From there just go to town decorating and wrapping and twisting and you can’t go wrong.

For the large tree I wrapped it in burlap fabric and attached it using some greening pins. I then used one strip of the natural jute ribbon to add texture, festive ribbon to add color, and twine to add a little more somethin’ somethin’.

For the middle size tree, I wrapped it in natural jute ribbon found at any craft store and some red and white striped twine.

For the baby tree, I wrapped the whole cone in twine and then spiraled some red and white striped twine down it. I also used some of the festive colored ornament ribbon to make the trees more cohesive.

I love how these trees turned out and how they’re each different yet have a nice, cohesive feel. Plus, they look darling sitting atop my piano with my believe there is good in the world sign. You can check out my full Christmas Home Tour here.

  1. Those are too cute! And I love the way you put them in the “snow” and bright ornaments on the mantle. A perfect look. I miss having my mantle to decorate.
